Ghanaian weddings come and go but the ones that remain perfectly ingrained in our minds are the ones that make a show of pomp and lavishness and we are simply here for it.
Over the last few days, the most talked about Ghanaian wedding on all social media platforms as well as wedding lovers is the Instagram wedding hashtagged ‘the set time 2021’.
From the planning to the decor, food, guests, performances etc have been received well by self acclaimed wedding lovers like us.
The bride looked amazingly gorgeous in all her outfits.
From her kente outfit down to her thanksgiving dress was nothing short of exquisite.
The groom also didn’t come to play at all. Right from their Ghanaian traditional wedding to their Sunday thanksgiving ceremonies, he was clothed in dapper clothings that was custom made for him.
We are going to talk about everything and anything that went on at Jenny and Andy’s wedding. We promise you will love every part of it.
Let’s get right into it.
First off, the decor
Disclaimer: we did not attend nor have any affiliation with the groom or bride whatsoever. This article is purely based on information gathered on Instagram.
The Decor
We had to start with the decor because it was what caught our nosy wedding senses attention at first.
The event decorator, @ot_decor has carved a name for themselves when it comes to event decors.
They did a marvelous job of decorating the engagement, wedding and reception grounds.
From the pictures that we have seen, we can boldly say they did justice to the decor and detailing.
Everything looked so heavenly and amazing. Check out the decor for the engagement.
The Traditional wedding
You can’t do a wedding without first seeking permission from the woman’s family.
Every wedding in Ghana starts with the traditional wedding, before you can proceed to do a white wedding and that’s exactly what Andrew did.
Their engagement ceremony was not short of glitz and glamour.
All the scenes from their engagement ceremony were absolutely beautiful and deeply rooted in culture.
The bride wore a chic bright kente outfit which was perfectly tailored by popular fashion house @pistis.
She again wore a waist snatched, curvaceous looking, bright red lace jumpsuit by @simabrew: after they had done all the traditional ceremonies they were expected to carry out.
The jumpsuit that she wore snagged beautifully to her body which could make most ladies green with envy.
She absolutely owned the occasion with no room for competition.
The Groom? A.B.S.O.L.U.T.E.L.Y nailed it!
He represented his gender with the perfect body fitting kaftan which was seamlessly tailored by Ghanaian top men’s fashion house @chocolateclothesglobal.
The theme for the decor for their engagement we presume was rustic and antique.
There were features of antique telephones as part of the decor which is the first of its kind for us.
You could see a pure look of happiness on Jenny and Andrew’s faces: and it was so much felt on their day.
The wedding
We thought the traditional ceremony’s glamour was enough….Glad to say we thought WRONG.
If you have seen their photos online, you will know that their engagement ceremony was just the tip of the iceberg.
We give a thumbs up to the event decorator. They brought the beauty of heaven to earth at the event grounds.
The picturesque flower tent was one helluva brilliant one.
Jenny wore a bedazzled gown number from sima brew which gave her a complete ethereal look.
Her hairstyle, down to her makeup were all on point. There was nothing amiss when it came to the looks of the dazzling bride.
Andrew also came in dazzling as any groom should be. He came in a form fitting white suit that was purposely sculpted for him.
The wedding ceremony saw a performance from the renowned Ghanaian gospel musician, Joe Mettle with the two lovebirds smiling throughout his performance.
Check out how Jenny matched in on IG.
The Bridal Party
Now wait! Tell me, what’s a wedding without groomsmen and bridesmaids?
A very boring one at that.
From my observations on the handful of weddings I’ve attended, I can come to the conclusion that groomsmen and Bridesmaids are the life of weddings.
Jenny and Andrew’s bridal party was simply not left out of the dashing occasion.
The Bridesmaids wore catchy all forest green, floor length outfits, and the groomsmen in black suits.
They brought much liveliness and happiness to the wedding.
The Reception
Their reception also came in full swing. With the bride changing into a delectable reception gown that accentuated all her right curves.
We must say she was a stunning look to behold in that dress. The bride and the groom were seen happily dancing around with their bridal party and guests.
And as we have already said, the decor for the reception was topnotch. The gleaming tiles and lbeautiful flowers made the reception center very charming
The Food
We were not there but if @menscookgh are your caterers for the day, then you know the food will be peng!!!
Both continental and local dishes were served abundantly. I know the aunties stuffed a lot of the foods in their purses to go give to their kids.lol
Pizza, burger, jollof, banku etc.. We mean all manner of foods and drinks were laid out for guests to help themselves to it.
Photography & Videography
Moments like these can only be captured by lens.
The Photography and videography team also did a wonderful job of capturing beautiful scenes and sounds from the event grounds.
Three teams: @focusnblur @teamnhyira and @pn_events were in charge of taking pictures of all that went on at the ceremony.
@Blayzpictures did a splendid job of doing a captivating and professional Videography job.
The End
Jenny and Andrew’s day was full with lavishness and glamour but most importantly, it was filled with love and happiness.
A well coordinated wedding like this brings nothing but long lasting memories that only brings a smile to the face when reminisced on.
We wish them a very blessed marriage that is filled with everlasting joy and happiness. It is indeed ‘the set time’ for them.

And the worst part?
The question of how you were going to be able to get it delivered to you.
Don’t get me started on the amount of stress the sender and you as the receiver will through before receiving your package.

Final thoughts
The African clothing styles here are ones currently trending.
These are the best and stylish kente styles. They are absolutely show stoppers. Kente cloth dress these days can not be ruled out of African dress styles.
In this post I will be showing current kente styles that are rocking the kente fashion industry.
How is kente made?
Kente is woven on ancient hand looms. They operate the loom with their hands and feet. The needle, which tread the wrap are placed between the toes.
A shuttle passing from the left hand to the right hand in deft movement inserts the weft. Simultaneous with the action comes the Kente loom music, a well known noisy Kro-hin-kro … Kro-hin-kro.
This rhythm made by the reverberating shuttle as they entwine the coloured yarns smoothly over one another to produce the dazzling double – weave strips of cloth, eight feet long by four inches wide. The strips are sewn together to make the required sizes. Source: Bonwire kente
Image source; @kaakyire_kente The Ashanti King in a beautiful kente regalia.
FEATURES OF KENTE
Kente is becoming more and more popular these days especially in the western world. The most popular kente cloth style in the western countries is the kente stole. The word kente originates from the Akan word “kenten” which when translated into English, it means a woven basket.
Kente is a very popular cloth in the western part of Africa especially in Ghana where it originally comes from. Kente dresses and cloth are mostly worn on special occasions to symbolise the rich culture. It would suprise you to know that kente is woven with the intensions and emotions of the weaver.
Thus, every kente has a name. At times kente can be named after popular people who have done great deeds. For instance the former president of America, Barack Obama, has a kente named after him. His kente name sake is Obama kente.
In recent years, the high rise and demand for african print clothing has been quite overwhelming. Gone are the days where the african print used to be limited to africans in africa only.
Not only is the african print taking the fashion scene by storm but its making africans in the diaspora much more aware of their roots and their culture.
Top celebrities like Beyonce, Gwen stefani,Lady Gaga, Rihana ,Alicia Keys have all been seen rocking their african print in robust styles.
I developed a huge love for african print clothings at a very tender age. I remember i used to be so annoyed with already made dresses especially the ones that came with the hat.( Lol)
But, whenever my mom bought an african print fabric I always got thrilled. It meant i was going to get a custom made dress plus i got to choose the style that i wanted (not without heckling with my mom on the style).
There are a lot of different ankara prints in the market that are easy to get. There is the kitenge, dashiki, kente and the tribal prints.
Top designers like Zara have categorized the prints named them as ethnic prints.
In Africa, especially my home country,Ghana, getting an african print to be custom made is not difficult at all. But, getting a custom made print dress can be quite difficult.
That is why I have rounded up the hottest and best african prints dress styles plus where you can buy them from. You can actually contact some of the sellers to make you a dress style you have seen and want.
Because these dresses are custom made, they are a bit pricy but i assure you that you won’t regret getting your self an ankara dress.
My go to store for custom made african print clothing is Etsy. Etsy can be and is a trusted online platform for hand made products.
I am even tempted to call Etsy an african clothing store.lol
You will find modern african print dresses online on Etsy. If you are skeptical about buying african dresses online, then your safe haven is Etsy.
